Accessory Arsenal

Hey, my dear friends!  How was everyone’s long weekend?   We spent lots of time with close friends and I actually snapped several outfit pictures.  I’m determined to be better about blogging a bit more consistently.  Life has a way of getting in the way sometimes.  I’m not complaining because a full life is a blessing.

Onto the style…the look in today’s post is a good one to kick off a discussion about the power of having a very carefully chosen arsenal of accessories that speak to our own unique style {I’m including bags and shoes in this accessory category}.  Throughout the past year or so, I can not believe the amount of accessory pieces I have donated and passed along to friends.  AND…believe it or not…the cliches about less being more are all spot on.  I wear the accessories I do have much more often and I’m so much happier with the looks I’ve styled recently as well.   With all the clutter and extras gone, everything is so much clearer, and because only the absolute favorites are left…we cut down on the styling mistakes exponentially!

At the top of my list of essential accessories is the block heel, fitted ankle bootie.  I couldn’t live with out a pair in black leather and cognac suede but there are so many gorgeous options to choose from.  Also, as you know, I like my bag and shoes to match so I try to stick with simple & versatile color palette.  Then there is the silk scarf.  It adds so much polish to a look.  I love to tie them to my bag.  If I happen to have a pair of shoes that doesn’t match a bag, I often use a scarf tied to my bag to pull the look together.
